Questions are scattered throughout the canvas, regarding Jimmer Fredette’s future legitimacy in the league and I’m here to say they’re bogus. With the NBA Draft taking place in three days, the former BYU standout will surely scratch the surface in the post-lockout 11-12 NBA season. Looking at Fredette’s highlights during the NBA Draft combine, the former NCAA leading scorer looks more composed than any other competing guard in this draft. Despite his size, Fredette can hold his own within this crossover-era that’s dominated by guards, Mark Price and Dana Barros comparisons aren’t accurate here.

Off-Season Targets

Al Jefferson – There’s been reports that Al Jefferson has been putting the extra work in his game this summer. After playing all 82 games last season for the Utah Jazz, Jefferson averaged 18.6 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. While at the age of 26, he remains as one of the league’s preferred inside scorers that can prove to be essential to a contender. It’s no wonder why he’s been attracting attention from many other teams in the league this summer.

Monta Ellis –  It’s almost obvious here that the Golden State Warriors are seeking to ship out the elusive scorer. Ellis put up 24 points and 5.6 assists per game this past season for the Warriors, while also showing much more improvement from deep range. Trade talks have died down since last week, but this Thursday should give them life.

Andre Iguodala –  Iguodala may finally get the long-awaited boot from Philly this week, as the Sixers are intrigued at the possibiity of adding the efficient Chris Kaman to their depleted front court. This would mean the Clippers would have two vicious finishers for their fastbreaks in Iggy and Blake Griffin.

The Mavericks Dynasty

Whether or not they deal Tyson Chandler, the Mavericks have a legit shot to keeping the O’Brien Trophy in Dallas. The return of Caron Butler from injury will only make them stronger on defense, not to mention Butler can also score the ball on the other side. This slew of tested veterans in Kidd, Terry and Marion perfectly produce alongside Nowitzki. Jose Barea will continue to change gears for the Mavs offense while coming off the bench for Kidd. Look for the Mavericks to have a much rougher road in the 2012 Playoffs, but never count them out of a series.
